19th Century Carved Spanish "Brassero" Brazier

$1,275.00

This 19th-century Spanish brazier (circa 1860's) is a striking example of exquisite craftsmanship. Crafted from solid walnut and supported by turned ball legs, it boasts intricate hand carved foliate motifs and possible depictions of Queen Isabella II and Duke Francisco de Asís. The basin is made of solid copper, adorned with elegant brass handles. The dark patina of the walnut contrasts well with the warm tone of the metals. The underside of the copper basin displays the royal coat of arms of Isabella II.

A brazier, still used to this day, played an important role in warming living spaces. After hot coals are placed in the metal basin, blankets were often draped over the covered basin to help stay warm during cold nights.
