Item Description:
This antique quarter sawn oak serpentine dresser was produced by Goldsboro Manufacturing Company in the late 19th century or early 20th century, making this dresser over 100 years old. It has a solid oak construction, with the top and serpentine drawers featuring quarter sawn oak. It has been refinished with danish oil and top coated with clear satin lacquer. The oil brings out the grain patterns in the wood, giving it beautiful amber glow. The lacquer was applied to provide additional protection. The main feature of this piece is the one of a kind wood grain on the serpentine drawers. Quarter sawn oak is sometimes referred to as tiger oak due to the striations in the wood grain. And this piece has some amazing striations! Each drawer also has its own lock, however, the original key is missing. We are in the process of trying to acquire a new key!
Some of the original hardware was missing when we received this piece, so it was replaced with a similar style hardware to keep with the age of the piece. New antique brass castors have also been added.
Due to the age of this piece, wear can be expected. There is a 1/2” gouge in the wood on the bottom right leg. Other minor imperfections in the wood are present, but nothing that takes away from the beauty of the piece!
